A Guide on the Role of a Theatre Nurse

The importance of nurse for any hospital is undeniable. But there are some specific duties of them, when it comes to operation theatre. Their usual focus is on operations and surgeries, but they need to have some special knowledge in the area of such as orthopedics, ophthalmology, obstetrics, cosmetic, and other fields that require operations.

The roles of a theatre nurse are many and they are categories in the type of scrub nurse or a circulation nurse.

When it comes to a scrub nurse, the main duties of them are towards the patient and the equipment. They pass on the items to the surgeon and they must be quick in decision making and have the right knowledge of equipments.

The prime job of a circulation nurse is to open the packs and give it to them. It is not as easy it sounds as sometimes the package contains sensitive items.

Next in the line are the anesthetic duties. Theatre nurse also help the patients with the recovery and undertake ward role as well.

The theatre nurses will check on the patients after the surgery and the right treatment is offered.
